Living until 114 years!

I just read a news item about the death of a man who was 114 years old.  Researchers in an attempt to establish the reason why he lived so long in good health tested some of his genes and others of the family hoping to find a possible answer.  They found nothing out of the ordinary.

I find it quite amusing how there are so many scientists who think that manipulating genes is the answer to longevity and good health.  The reality is that genes only place a very small role in how long you will live and how healthy you will be throughout your life.  It has been well proven that lifestyle choices and diet will override less than perfect genes.

These scientists should understand that no one component is the answer to a long healthy life.  A couple of days ago I wrote an article explaining about glycation which is a major factor in impacting both how long you will live and whether you will do it in good health whilst retaining your faculties.  Most people ignore this...but, glycation is only one part of the equation.  One Monday I will give you another part when I talk about methylation which is also crucial.

The information is already available to give us all the tools to live to 114 years in good health.  My objective is 120 years, but I don't mind if it is a bit less, so long as I maintain excellent health and all my faculties until close to the day I die and can enjoy all that life has to offer.
